Choosing a Gainesville Wedding Photographer

August 22, 2009 - 3:25 am

As you begin to plan your wedding, you eventually get to the part where you have to choose a wedding photographer. Like everything else you plan for your wedding this part will probably cause some tension. Your mother probably has an idea about who she wants to be the wedding photographer in future mother-in-law probably has another idea who she wants to be the wedding photographer, and all you really want is good pictures of your wedding. Here’s a few things to consider when choosing a Gainesville wedding photographer.

Is the person you are choosing a professional or amateur? There are many people who say they are professional photographers who have nice equipment, the talk is good game, and can’t take a good picture if their life depended on it.

Is the person you’re considering for your wedding photographer the actual person who is going to shoot the wedding? Sometimes you may be talking to a person who is a representative for the wedding photographer and not the photographer himself or herself.

This is probably a big one, but, is the person you’re dealing with a person you can get along with? By the end of your wedding you will be intimately familiar with this person’s mannerisms, personality, quirks, and temperament. Make sure that both members of the wedding party, including the bride and groom get along well with your wedding photographer.

It is likely that price is going to be an issue in deciding on your Gainesville wedding photographer. Make sure everyone understands what the delivered price of your wedding pictures will be. It is probable that you may want more pictures than you originally ordered. So make sure you know exactly how much reprints will cost.

Any arrangements you make with your wedding photographer should be included in a contract. It does not matter if this person is a friend of the family, a personal friend, or the friend of a friend of a friend, get it in writing.

Within the contract should be the terms of payment, deposit and final price. Do not under any circumstances make verbal agreements. If you want something from your wedding photographer, make sure it is in writing.

Finally, references are probably the best source of information you can obtain for making your own informed decision about your wedding photographer. If three of your best friends have all used the same wedding photographer, and they are happy, chances are you will be too. If your potential wedding photographer cannot provide references or is hesitant to do so find another wedding photographer in Gainesville.
